  2. One of the movies we watched in class "Lost In Translation" was one of the worst movies i have ever watched I'm sorry to say but i unfortunately didn't enjoy it as some people somehow did. I wasn't sure if it was any movie we watched recently in class or outside of class so i deleted my old post and posted this one just in case.

  3. The film "do the right thing" describe black people's life in the early time. It was made up by many little story, and the main place which things happen is the pizza shop. To be honest, I did fine they were treated unfair, except the radio man was killed by the police at last. And I don't understand why at the beginning of this movie spent so much time just show the woman dancing...?

  4. To moe-hib -

Well I loved Lost In Translation! Totally admire the director and think its a really beautiful movie.

I know its one of those movies that not everyone will like, because it's very slow-paced and takes a while for the movie to get into the 'plot'.

Anyway, if you want to ask questions about the movie, just ask me at AIT and ill try answer your questions =]

  5. To Hong -

The reason why the chick was dancing so much in the introduction is because she opens the movie with the correct vibe - Come on man, its the 80's!

She puts us viewers in the right 'mood' which is 'this is gonna be fun to watch'... Kinda what Spike Lee does in all his films.. He makes his movies fun and enjoyable.

She dances to the song called "Fight The Power", which symbolizes how she's a solution to racism - She's a latina chica, who is dancing to 'black' music. This is also seen later in the movie when we find out she has an African-American boyfriend and son.

You're right about how it describes 'black people's life in the early time' because this was really how they were treated, and how bad racism was in the 80's.

It's a deep film, it may seem very funny and enjoyable, but it uses alot of 'Black Comedy' which means its satarical(funny), but still maintaining seriousness.

We will be discussing this film more on this blog,(ill post a blog up soon) because this is really an interesting film.

  6. The film "Lost In Translation"give me a deep impression of the movies I have watched in class recently. In the beginning, I am not really enjoy it and not understand what it mean. If you can cotiune watch it you will find it is a meaningful film.Environment is important to everyone. If you lost your culture, language in a new environment, you will feel absently and bored. The hero and heroine meet at a strange city. The same language, culture and life circle make them heart to heart. In the film, it spend a lot of beautiful secens and no speaking shots to let your thinking by yourselves. The film use a special view to descripe an unfaithful reins with thinking.

  8. "Lost in Translation" was totally west, because the relation between the old man and young lady was ok but till limit of friendship, I think that was some thing more then friendship which is really terrible.

  9. RagingBull is story of a sick champion, who's mood always became change, the good thing in that movie was that director showed Jake's changing face and health in a beautiful way, that was the point which makes me to like that.

  10. "Jurassic Park III" is neither as dreadful as it might be, nor as perfectly wrought as it could be. For one thing, it moves along as jauntily as one of those horrific raptors scooting along the plain; the movie wraps itself up so quickly, and after such a relatively low-key climax, that you can barely believe it's over. It runs about 90 minutes, and that's sweet relief. You can get your fix of dino effects (most of which are starting to look pretty familiar anyway, after the original "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park"), with a few good jokes and interesting performances thrown in, and be on your way.

  11. According to Spike Lee :Fight the power: is the power of young black americans, but as my perspective it really do not sounds peace full, of course to understand Fight the power every one first think of violence and may be after that can understand the logic what Spike Lee said.

  12. Set in Tokyo, Sofia Coppola's second feature, Lost in Translation, stars Bill Murray as Bob Harris, a fading Hollywood star who has arrived in Japan to make a very lucrative whiskey commercial. Filled with career angst and concerns about his marriage, he spends most of his off time channel-surfing in his room or drinking at the hotel bar.

One night while drinking, Bob meets Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), a twenty-something who has tagged along after her photographer husband (Giovani Ribisi), in town to shoot rock groups. He seems more interested in his work than his beautiful, brainy wife, and after two years of marriage she is questioning their relationship.
