I agree with you Moehib, because it is really heard to understand it at first time, but thanks to Dr Dray that she makes that too clear for every one and now i am so clear about that accept one thing, i really still think that why he tried to kill Palentine? I mean it dose not gives me any solid sense. any how thank you very much Dr Dray (sorry i don't know your real name) for your nice explanation.

  5. Yes, I know this is really confusing.. Why Travis wanted to kill Palantine.. First time I watched it I had no idea.. But this is what I think..

Travis is mentally unstable. He feels like he is losing his mind more and more after -
    1. Betsy rejects him
    2. Unnamed passenger says violent things about his wife
    3. Wizard says he will remain a taxi driver forever

From all these things, Travis really wants to change his life... But he thinks this will only happen if he kills Palantine.

Like I said, Travis was an ex-marine from fighting in the Vietnam War. So he see's violence as a normal thing. He is so angry with the world at that moment, so he wants to take out his anger on Palantine and then kill himself afterwards. Why? Because he is mental. He wants to say "Suck on this!" to society coz he hates the world so much. He is a hater.

    Kind of making sense?

  6. Yer it does just one more thing...why didn't he think of killing the pimp first and not Palantine or is is cause he thought that killing Palantine would make more of a difference? Sorry by the way you keep explaining it to me but i still don't understand it for some reason but this is the only thing that i now don't understand.

  7. May be that he think if he will kill big man he will be big hero,,,,,,,,, i think so, M i right Dray? because Palantine has high status than pimp.

  9. its just that he blames Palantine for his failed relationship with Betsy it doesn't make sense but it doesn't have to cause he is mentally unstable
